Cars and Efficiency in Focus
A car runs better and consumes less petrol when it is maintained well. Here are several ways to look after your car and save money in the process:
Make sure your car is tuned correctly. Straightforward maintenance, like frequently changing the air filters and oil, and replacing spark plugs, will extend the lifespan of your car and enhance fuel efficiency – while minimizing emissions. Simply observe the advice in your owner’s guidebook.
Give your tires an inspection. Ensuring your tires are correctly aligned and inflated saves petrol by cutting down the degree of resistance your engine has to overcome. Purchase some LRR (low rolling resistance) tires. When tires cut down on rolling resistance by ten percent, it can enhance petrol mileage by a couple of percent for the majority of cars. These tires are often used on modern cars, so sometimes it is simply a case of purchasing more of what you already have.
Bear the weight in mind. Do not carry things that are unnecessary. The fuel efficiency in your car reduces by a couple of percent, every time the weight you carry increases by 100 pounds. Moreover, cut down on drag by placing large items in the trunk, rather than on your roof rack.
Monitor your fuel efficiency. If your car experiences a fall in its’ fuel efficiency, this can indicate problems with the engine. Gauge your fuel efficiency by recording the odometer data and the quantity of gallons bought every time you refuel. To work out your petrol mileage, divide how many miles you traveled between refueling by the quantity of gallons bought. The majority of hybrid vehicles, and even some traditional petrol cars, have gauges that allow you to monitor your fuel efficiency live. This way, you can note how your driving is affecting your fuel economy.
